What we believe about:
The Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true centre of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
- By “The Holy Bible” we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which as originally written does not only contain and convey the Word of God, but IS the very Word of God.
- By “inspiration” we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy men of old, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired.
2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:1-21; Acts 1:16
- We believe that the Scriptures interpreted in their natural, literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life which define man´s responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Among these dispensations, three of them-the law, the church, and the kingdom-are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture.
Gen. 1:28; I Cor. 9:17; 2 Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:13-25; Eph. 1:10; 3:2-10; Col. 1:24-25, 27; Rev. 20:2-6
Jesus Christ on the Infallibility of Scripture
God
- As a church, the basis of our belief is the Bible – the inspired word of God that records for us God’s revelation throughout history to mankind, and gives instruction on life as a follower of Jesus.
- We believe in One God who is revealed in 3 persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in a world created by God with mankind as the pinnacle of this creation. We believe that through disobedience to God’s way, sin entered the world and changed forever the nature of the relationship between God and people. However, through God's own initiative, the opportunity for a relationship with Him was restored.
- This relationship is completely grounded in God's exceptional love and grace. The ultimate completion of God’s plan to redeem people into relationship with Him came when Jesus, both the Son of God, and God the Son, entered our world as a man. Jesus taught and exampled through his perfect life what life in the Kingdom of God looks like. This included the way he exemplified for us, God's love and acceptance of all people, and an active concern for those who are poor and most vulnerable. Ultimately though, Jesus showed the greatest example of God’s continued desire for relationship with people through his death - nailed to a cross. Not only did this express to us His exceptional love for us, but also paid the atoning price and penalty for our sins.
- We believe that anyone who chooses to accept Jesus as Lord and God, through repentance and faith, can also be redeemed into a life-giving, eternal relationship with Him.
- We believe that the cross was not the end, and that after 3 days Jesus rose from the dead. We believe in the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit of God to bring people to repentance, and to equip people for the task of living as followers of Jesus in a broken world.
- We believe that one day Jesus will return. At that time, all people will be required to give account for their lives, and that those who had accepted the grace of God and his death as the substitute for their sins will be able to continue in an eternal relationship with Him.
The Church
We believe that the church is the local, corporate expression of the life of God on earth. It is the community of people who have discovered new life in Christ. Through the fruit and gifts bestowed by God, the church is charged with having a vital impact in the building of the kingdom of God.
